8/7/26 - New releases from SIN OFFERING and CRAZY CLUE OUT NOW!!

Howdy friends! It's been a minute! Got two new slabs, a repress and a rare distro update locked and loaded for y'all today, let's get right to it:

SIN OFFERING - GUILTY 12"

There is no other verdict. You were born with the mark on your forehead. You have always known that you are to be expelled from their circle. And the door will creak; it will be heavy; you will struggle to cross the threshold. You will feel their eyes on your back, and it will be like this even when you reach where it is sylvan. You will smell ash; you will find your veil is burning. The leaves underfoot will be dead. You will walk along the riverbank, and your skirts will catch on the brambles.

There is, somewhere else, innocence. Sin Offering offers only GUILTY, their debut 12” EP for Beach Impediment Records, Sound Grotesca, and Side Two.

GUILTY, named for Georges Bataille’s Le Coupable, is stitched from discarded fragments of metallic punk, deathrock, doom metal, and post punk—think Tožibabe, the Dead Relatives, Potion for Bad Dreams-era Void, Paul Chain Violet Theatre, and Danse Macabre. Or: vocals many have described as “girl Rozz Williams” + the Simmons SDSV + Will Heggie’s bass on Garlands + Mick Mars by way of Randy Uchida. Lyrically, GUILTY fixates on the uneasy proximity between prohibition and violation, drawing from the Pentateuch and the Gospels as much as from nineteenth- and twentieth-century literature of abjection (Mary Shelley’s Mathilda and Colette’s L’ingénue libertine).

Elizabeth Siddal, sketched as Ophelia, opens her mouth to speak: “All changes pass me like a dream, / I neither sing nor pray; / And thou art like the poisonous tree / That stole my life away.”

Each record includes comes in a chipboard jacket and features a 12 page booklet - all of which was designed by the band.

There are 150 copies on translucent white vinyl for mailorder while they last. If you're going to Skull Fest this year, don't miss em!!!!

CRAZY CLUE - WHERE THE DREGS DWELL 12"

CRAZY CLUE “Where the Dregs Dwell” is ten blasts from the unravelled gaseous mass of 80s HC a la NOTA, Rebel Truth, and Pig Children, the thumping bloodwart of the modern greats like Dawn of Humans and SHIT, and the hysteric touch of Totalitar in some kind of Scandi-wegian pogo tinged open faced sandwich. Featuring the greatest mind of 21st century traditional hardcore Mr. Bobby Cole (Annihilated, Total Con), and the Vanda-Young of distorted guitars, Mike and Jonah from Canada, Crazy Clue’s WHERE THE DREGS DWELL is ten tracks of ear damaging fizz thud clunk and squeal, paved with anguished cries and dotted with gloriously wrong sounds, cheap techniques, and luxury results. When there’s no more room in hell, where will the dregs dwell?

There are 100 copies on translucent yellow vinyl for mailorder while they last.

As always, you can snag / download / stream em here and just regular snag em here

In addition to these new ones, the CONDOR - SINGLES 2017-2018 12" has entered it's 5th pressing! And holy smokes, I've been squirreling away some distro items after swearing off ever wanting to do so again some years back! I just can't quit you (that's directed at the Amdi Petersen's Arme Discog in particular) anyways:

V/A - TARANTULA ON MY COCK Tape + THE TIDEWATER ARSE Zine Anthology (highly recommended for Virginia deep heads)
BAD POSTURE - C/S + DEMOS 12"
BEAST OF BEAST - SEX, DRUGS... AND NOISE 12"
AMDI PETERSENS ARME - DISCOGRAPHY 12"
AUTOMATED EXECUTION - S/T EP
ENDLESS JOY - S/T 12"

Woowee!!! What else... as I am writing this, the PUBLIC ACID / INVERTEBRATES - OPERATION HARDCORE US TOUR is down to it's last few days! Since I keep getting questions about it, no I do not have any copies of the Split 12" done for the tour and no it will not be repressed! This was a tour exclusive done since the 7"s weren't gonna be ready and the legends at Donaldson Pressing took it on with us. With that said, y'all who didn't snag a split are in for a treat when the EP's drop in the fall!

I think that does it for now! Barring any shenanigans, records by the likes of PUBLIC ACID, INVERTEBRATES, WHITE CROSS, SIKM and more will be out before the year is done.

Be well!

12/5/25 - New releases from MUJERES PODRIDAS, WHITE CROSS and RHDP + BIG SALE!

New releases from MUJERES PODRIDAS, WHITE CROSS and RHDP out now + BIG SALE!!!

OHHHHH YEAH! Folks, I'm back with some new releases - the last of em for the year. We got two modern full lengths that have captivated me the whole way through since hearing them months and months ago and a reissue of a VA/US/INTERNATIONAL/UNIVERSAL hardcore punk classic rager of a slab. Before we get to it I also wanna announce a fun little raffle - everyone who purchases all three of the new releases will be entered into a drawing to win an original deadstock copy of the WHITE CROSS - FASCIST EP! You're thinking "why would you do that?" and I say "because it's fun!" okay here we go:

MUJERES PODRIDAS - SANGRE Y SOL

Austin, Texas punk powerhouse MUJERES PODRIDAS returns to us hot off the heels of a Japanese tour with their "SANGRE Y SOL" LP, the first we have heard from them since 2021's "MUERTE EN PARAISO." Over the years, each release has seen the band not only honing their skill but ultimately carving out their own territory within the vast sonic terrain we're all immersed in as enthusiasts of this music and "SANGRE Y SOL" is truly the pinnacle of their nearly decade journey thus far. The aural steamroller that is this ensemble aside, this record is not meant to be merely a linear punk album with one sound but rather a cohesive collection of experiences of growing up on the border of South Texas reflected by varied levels of mood and intensity. These songs are about love, violence, death. They reflect the general passion that comes from balancing the intense highs and lows of life while still being proud of the land that nourished and raised the members of this group. In short, "SANGRE Y SOL" is meant to represent the violence and danger people face crossing the border on foot and the long journey that lies ahead navigating through a society and landscape that are often both inhospitable and harsh.

Each record comes in a full package featuring an outstanding LP jacket and newspaper print poster composed by drummer Phill Gonzalez alongside illustrations by Kumi Gardner that help to convey these stories and emotions on a visual level. Mixed by Mike Kriebel at Abbey Road West and mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound.

There are 150 copies on CLEAR VINYL for mailorder while they last!

Also, the long out of print and previously mentioned MUERTE EN PARAISO LP is back in print on yellow vinyl, limited to 300 copies!

WHITE CROSS - FASCIST EP

Beach Impediment is honored to be reissuing a top tier USHC classic that came into being right here in Central Virginia. In the summer of 1982 when Richmond's RED CROSS (see BIR-062) came to an abrupt end, guitarist Mikey Rodriguez didn't seem to miss a beat, recruiting Crispy Cranmer, formerly of GASSE 32, on vocals to continue his vision of creating frantic, fast and ugly hardcore punk... and they did just that late one October night, sneaking into the studios of Union Theological Seminary to belt out 8 urgent and furious tracks clocking in at just over 5 minutes, immortalized on a platter compliments of local punk stalwarts Zero Degree Records later that year. What became known as the "FASCIST EP" (a title unintended by the band that stuck per Jeff Bale's glowing review in Maximum Rock and Roll #5) spread far and wide in the months that followed, not only cementing the band's place in the annals of international hardcore punk history but also triggering a regional explosion with the genre; the fuse of which had been lit by Mikey's previous service in MOD SUBS and the aforementioned RED CROSS. This is just the beginning of our long awaited reissues of the legendary WHITE CROSS - stay tuned!

Each record comes in a stunningly accurate reproduction sleeve featuring a never before seen band photo from when the boys opened for THE EXPLOITED, an insert with the long lost lyrics accompanied by a collage of flyers and other imagery related to the release, a duplicate of the original sticker so ya don't have to send a S.A.S.E. as originally requested by the band and hey - even the center labels are the original design that the prudes at United refused to print due to the excessive profanity on them!

There are 200 copies on WHITE VINYL for mailorder while they last!

And if ya want a fun little VALU PAK deal, check out the Big Cartel entry for last year's RED CROSS 12" in case ya missed out on that :)

RHDP - KASKASERO LP

"Forget all the RHCP jokes, RHDP has no time to pay attention to anything worthlessly American like bars that don’t serve Red Horse beer. The Filipino power trio hail from Virginia Beach and for nearly 15 years have been one of the best kept secrets in the Virginia punk scene. The Red Horse Drunk Punks (or is it Red Horse Drugs Pancit these days?) look to hard rock from across the decades and world as ingredients to their drunken stew of rock. They carry the torch of bands like Annihilation Time or Motörhead with the ability to make it burn brighter taking from hometown heroes like The Juan De La Cruz Band and the Twisted Red Cross catalog.

With KASKASERÖ the band lands on wax for the first time since 2016’s Silinyador EP with their best sound yet. The long awaited full length hits like a sonic punch of unrelenting guitar shredding, tight drums, belting vocals in Tagalog and the expert playing of a Filipino kubing jaw harp on RAK EN RÖL II HIMIG NG KUBING. You won’t find a single song that doesn’t have you wanting to drive a Jeepney 100mph through the HRBT. Inventive and original yet from the first minute it’s clearly unadulterated RAK EN RÖL just the way it was meant to be."

-Brian Baynes

There are 100 copies on BLUE VINYL for mailorder while they last!

Did you miss out on the previous two RHDP EP's from years past? I got a few from the band available as a little VALU PAK deal via the Big Cartel webstore.

As always, buy here and buy / stream / download here.

In other news, the LONG KNIFE - CURB STOMP EARTH LP is finally back in print - a 3rd pressing of 500 copies on GREEN VINYL! Snag or don't!

Oh and despite cutting down on the distro years ago I've been known to dabble here and there. I tossed up two things that are nothing alike - a recent Japanese hardcore 7" that blew my mind and a fan club pressing of a late 60s Richmond soul group; both of which are already sold out from sources of production. See the Big Cartel for more info. Much like the KNIFE above, snag or don't!

I also got some sick buttons from the head honcho at PEN ISLAND - most of them based on archival releases I've done in the past. Order 3 LP's or more and I will sneak some in your package.

Annnnd as mentioned in the header of the email, there's a BIG SALE! A recent move to the new B.I.R. HQ made me say "holy fuck, I need to do a sale" so that's the story behind that. Loads of label releases and distro items have been marked down in the Big Cartel! I didn't do it in Bandcamp because they take a huge cut but hey, most releases are available for free download so like, buy em from the Big Cartel then put "0" in when downloading those from Bandcamp. That's my lifehack that I will share with you today. The sale will run through the end of the year, probably longer as I will more than likely forget to reverse or edit it or whatever.

I think that does it for now. Orders will start shipping next week. Thanks for another lovely year of doing this label. It's crazy to think that next year is the 15th anniversary of Beach Impediment. Don't worry, I won't unleash any shenanigans beyond some more great records that are in the works already so stay tuned! Much love.

8/15/25 - GENTLEMAN JESSE - I WONDER IF YOU WOULD EVEN NOTICE... 12" + MANY REPRESSES OUT NOW!

Greetings gang! It's been an intentionally slower than usual year on this end but I am quite tickled to let y'all know that a certain slab that's been in the works on and off for years and absolutely falls into the "not much else" section of the label motto is finally available alongside some much needed represses that have been filling the new B.I.R. HQ / office space / in-law suite turned into rock dungeon. Finna get right to it!

GENTLEMAN JESSE - I WONDER IF YOU WOULD EVEN NOTICE: SINGLES AND RARITIES LP

"One of the brighter stars from the mid-oughties, an era when power pop was on the rise among punks and the Pitchfork crowd alike, Gentleman Jesse burst onto the scene in 2006 with their first single, “I Don’t Wanna Know (Where You Been Tonight).” Sporting the Carbonas’ rhythm section as well as their rough-and-ready DIY approach–via drummer Dave Rahn–,Gentleman Jesse conjures comparisons to the Nerves in how they filter drama and desperation through pop sensibilities. Also like the Nerves, Gentleman Jesse writes upbeat, breezy numbers that are best blasted on the car stereo at 80 miles per hour.

This album tracks the first five years of the group’s progress across 16 songs, from early demos to a string of punchy, danceable singles. The guitars may not be distorted, but, far from being saccharine or kitschy, Gentleman Jesse is truly more POWER than POP.

Each record features a layout chock full of photos from the first half a decade of existence with liner notes by the Gentleman himself."

There are 200 copies on NATURAL VINYL available for mailorder while they last.

As always, snag here and jam / download / snag here.

And those previously mentioned represses are as follows:

PUBLIC ACID - DEADLY STRUGGLE 12" (2nd press, limited to 500 copies)
INVERTEBRATES - SICK TO SURVIVE 12" (3rd press, limited to 500 copies)
SIKM - NOW I MUST COMPLY 12" (2nd press, limited to 400 copies on red vinyl)
MUJERES PODRIDAS - MUERTE EN PARAISO 12" (4th press, limited to 300 copies on yellow vinyl)

I was hoping to have another pressing of the LONG KNIFE - CURB STOMP EARTH LP available but no dice! Soon, though, soooon!

Lastly, a few more releases will be coming in the late fall before the year is out. They are as follows:

WHITE CROSS - FASCIST EP
MUJERES PODRIDAS - SANGRE Y SOL LP
RHDP - KASKASERO LP

More on that later. In the meantime, hope all is well on your end! Goodbye!

4/18/25 - New releases from HEAVEN'S GATE and PARANOID OUT NOW!!

Howdy friends! It's been a goddamn minute but I'm elated to inform you that I got a couple new ones for ya! Let's just go ahead and get to it, okay:

HEAVEN'S GATE - TALES FROM A BLISTERING PARADISE 12"

When most people think of Florida, they might picture retirement villages with seniors playing pickleball, luxurious Lamborghinis cruising to the beach, or leather-skinned swamp folks with a passion for NASCAR. However, Florida is also home to some of the fiercest punk bands imaginable. HEAVEN'S GATE is one such band. Instead of exuding the raw grime of ASSÜCK, HEAVEN'S GATE channels their rage into a powerful, concise, blast-beating behemoth. "TALES FROM A BLISTERING PARADISE" builds upon the animosity this fearsome foursome shared with us via their debut self-titled EP a couple years back, revealing a grotesque embodiment that has only become more exacting and deadly since that initial release; which is no surprise considering the extensive catalog of these folks, past and present. This record is eight tracks of seething, white knuckle extreme music - nothing more, nothing less.

Recorded by Ryan Boesch at Candor Studios, mixed by Will Killingsworth and mastered by Joel Grind, each record comes in a jacket laid out by Steak Mtn and featuring a cover photo taken by drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz nearly 30 years ago of Our Lady of Clearwater.

There are 150 copies on RED VINYL and 150 copies on YELLOW VINYL for mailorder while they last!

Also available on CD and TAPE through our friends at TO LIVE A LIE RECORDS!

偏執症者 (Paranoid) - MMXXII 12"

Behold! Previously only released on the digital format in the year 2022 as they became available and then via a series of 7"s on the Paranoid Northern Discs and D-Takt & Råpunk Records labels just last year, Beach Impediment is delighted to present these eight tracks on the 12" format to the North American populus. Much like the rest of the offerings from 偏執症者 thus far, these songs are top notch and thankfully did not fade away into cyber obscurity. Limited to a one time pressing of 500 copies, each record comes in not only a jacket adorned with the stunning art of Joe BB but also features an immense fold out poster by the acclaimed punk artist, serving as quite the visual compliment to the devastating compositions on this slab.

There are 100 copies on MARBLE ORANGE VINYL for mailorder while they last!

Also available as a 7" Box Set from our friends at D-takt & Rapunk Records (EU) and Sorry State Records (US)!

On top of that, I've repressed the CONDOR 12" in celebration of their EU/UK tour that pops off next week! Check out the poster below for those dates:

As always, you can buy em here and stream / download / buy here.

And that'll do it for now, I think! Much more to come as the summer months approach! Be well!

12/27/24 - New releases from MOB 47 and SCUMBAG OUT NOW!!

Hey long time no talk! Getting a couple more in before the year is out - a domestic pressing of the new MOB 47 TILLS DU DOR 12" and some classic late 80's hardcore punk from Tokyo's SCUMBAG! Info is below:

MOB 47 - TILLS DU DÖR LP

The undisputed kings of mangel are back with what, believe it or not, is their first ever proper 12" LP in the form of "TILLS DU DÖR" - featuring 16 brand new tracks of GARANTERAT MANGEL!!!! Despite the more than four decades that have passed since the release of the band's all time cult classic "Kärnvapen Attack" EP, founding members Åke and Chrille (along with more recent member Christoffer on bass) clearly remain dedicated to the discipline of creating and executing top notch hardcore punk. And it's worth noting this isn't something reserved solely for the studio seeing that the band is still performing all over the world as well with recent dates in the USA and Colombia. Mob 47 is the epitome of a lifer band. Released earlier this year in Europe by the long running and high quality D-TAKT & RÅPUNK RECORDS, Beach Impediment is absolutely honored to help make this modern day classic more easily available to North American lovers and admirers of classic Swedish hardcore punk.

There are 150 copies on VIOLET VINYL for mailorder while they last.

EUROPE! Please order from D-TAKT & RÅPUNK.

THE SCUMBAG - S/T 12"

In celebration of the band's recent reunion appearance at a memorial gig for Roger Armstrong in Tokyo, Beach Impediment is honored to offer up the studio recordings of THE SCUMBAG on vinyl for the first time in over three decades! A bi-product of the late 80's crossover culture that was sweeping the world, THE SCUMBAG existed from 1988 through 1989, releasing a demo tape titled "Have Fun! More Fun!" and appearing on the V/A - ENJOY YOUR YOUTH BY THIS HARDCORE SAMPLER 12" alongside contemporaries like DISCLAIM, SIC, D.O.N.D.O.N. and FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS; the latter of which they'd share a split 12" with on the legendary MCR Company label in 1991 which accompanied a reunion with the original lineup. While most of the members would continue on in the form of DREAD YANKEES, bassist Takeshi Fukushima would go on to play with the likes of IDORA, SWEATS and ROCKY & THE SWEDEN. The mix of traditional Japanese hardcore with fast paced thrash and occasional melody yielded memorable and unique recordings that are available once again, remastered by Toshihisa Hirano from the original tapes. Each record comes in a jacket featuring the iconic FVK split 12" art slightly re-envisioned, along with an insert featuring archival imagery from the band's all too brief run.

There are 100 copies on EMERALD VINYL for mailorder while they last!

JAPAN! Possessed Label is handling a CD version of this release that not only features the studio tracks from this 12" but also ripping live sets circa 1988 and previously unreleased early demo tracks. Also, FUUDOBRAIN in Tokyo has copies of the 12" available if it's easier to snag from them.

As always, you can snag here and jam / snag here.

I know I usually do a year end sale but life I am too much of a coward to figure out my webstore right now. Fret not, I'll do something in the coming months before an office move that's in the cards. Or maybe, like, send me a funny video and I will make a coupon for ya? Eh I don't know. I will say this, if ya want an INVERTEBRATES 12" snag one ASAP as that one is close to being sold out yet again!

I'll keep it brief but thanks for another amazing year and expect much more in 2025 as we enter year 14 of the Beach Impediment label (WTF) - be well!

7/26/24 - New releases from SIKM, RED CROSS (pre WHITE CROSS) and DISARM + MURO new LP!

Howdy! Pardon the slightly earlier than usual email but I'm on the road most of today and wanted to get this shit rolling for y'all. CHECK IT - three new ones from B.I.R.! First and foremost, the modern offering is well done contemporary Oi music from ATL's finest SIKM followed by two archival releases from, you guessed it, the Commonwealth of Virginia circa 40ish years ago. I'm particularly proud of these two - both were rather elusive recordings that I'd known about for around 20ish years but didn't get a complete go at hearing until their respective reels were located and transferred recently. Both releases had their share of delays (and, sadly, the death of a member in one case) in the production process but I am so happy to finally have these available. It was an honor to work with the creative forces behind these groups to make these records a reality. R.I.P. to Mikey, Alford and Bryan.

And another one that can go in the "FINALLY!" category - I am beyond excited to be aiding in the North American distribution of the MURO - NUEVO DOGMA LP!! The vinyl showed up on my porch from France nearly a year ago now and I just got the print from Colombia last month. Pressed in Europe, printed in South America and assembled in Richmond, VA - phew! I've been listening to this record for close to a year now so I'm VERY excited for the rest of you to hear it and, as always, am honored to aid my friends at Casa Rat Trap in the spread of their art. Be sure to catch them in Europe if ya haven't already and are in their imminent path!

Let's go ahead and get to it:

SIKM - NOW I MUST COMPLY 12"

Hot on the heels of 2023's ass kicker of a demo, Atlanta's SIKM are back with their first 12" offering in the form of the "NOW I MUST COMPLY" EP! Here we have 6 offerings of UK82 meets infectious French Oi filtered tastefully through a modern lens, yielding truly stand out tracks in a world that's quickly becoming full of monotony and color by the numbers bullshit. Recorded and produced in Paris, France at Château Vergogne by Maxime Smadja (of RIXE, CONDOR, BOSS and many more), mastered by Will Killingsworth and featuring outstanding cover art and layout from the mind of Jeff Poleon - this is the full package!

There are 200 copies on COKE BOTTLE CLEAR vinyl for mailorder while they last!

DISARM - EXISTENCE DEMO 1985 12"

Continuing in their campaign to unveil the hidden history of the 1980s Virginian hardcore punk scene, Beach Impediment unearths the "Existence Demo 1985" by Virginia Beach skate thrashers DISARM. Taking inspiration from New Yorks’ AGNOSTIC FRONT, Boston's SS DECONTROL, Sweden's ANTI-CIMEX as well as the burgeoning thrash metal from Californias’ SLAYER and POSSESSED, DISARM were truly a product of their time and in their brief two-year lifespan, the teenaged quartet bombed up and down the east coast sharing stages with CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, YOUTH OF TODAY and GANG GREEN among others. Recorded in a suburban garage studio during a sweltering summer, "Existence Demo 1985" combines the brute sonic force of hardcore with a blinding thrash delivery to create one of the most unheralded demo tapes of the era. Remastered from the original reels by CHRIS CORRY and released in conjunction with NO IDOLS, the "Existence Demo 1985" gets its’ well-deserved vinyl debut, almost 40 years after its’ recording.

Each record features a layout adorned with imagery from the band's brief existence along with liner notes derived from an interview conducted by Tony Rettman with guitarist Raymond Epstein and vocalist Bryan Zentz. Limited to a one time pressing of 500 copies.

RED CROSS - 1981-1982 NO MESSAGE 12"

For starters, don't let the name fool you, this is Richmond, VA  - not L.A. Coinciding with the beginning of the 1980s, the spread of punk's mutation into the harsher exertion known as hardcore punk began to spill across the continental United States. The music was becoming harder and faster, straying from the style and formula that some of the younger participants were starting to grow bored of and Richmond was no exception to this phenomena. Following the 1981 implosions of local punk groups MOD SUBS (see Beach Impediment Records #6) and DISRUPTORS, the illustrious Mike Rodriguez formed RED CROSS alongside friends Frank Gresham, Scott Price and Alford Faulknier. Their mission: to create and play hardcore punk adhering to the motto of "LOUD FAST RULES" and they did just that! The next year or so saw the band leaving a trail of broken glass and harshed mellows throughout the greater metropolitan Richmond area, to put it lightly. In early 1982, the boys entered Studio 2 at Union Theological Seminary under the cover of night to record 12 tracks that were intended to be the band's debut 12". Alas, as bands tend to do, they eventually broke up due to internal conflicts, which led to the almost immediate formation of Richmond legends WHITE CROSS; arguably the final form of Mikey Rod's drive to create fast, hard and ugly music. The WHITE CROSS fellas would carry the torch of Richmond Hardcore Punk all over this country for the next few years - but that is another story for another time, bud! As you might have guessed, the aforementioned break up left the aforementioned recording in a limbo of sorts, seemingly doomed to never reach the ears of the public.

Having a sense of pride for the hard work and creative process that led to the recording session in question, vocalist Frank Gresham did not want to have this session completely lost to the sands of time, leading to the creation of somewhere between 50-100 cassette tapes featuring the studio recording, a live reimagined rendition of a John Cale classic and a radio advertisement that the band ran as promotion to close it all out. With this last will and testament of early USHC in the Richmond area being spread among a small number of friends and fans, Franky left it at that, eventually moving on up to NYC. In the decades that followed, local hardcore punk enthusiasts had heard tales of this band and the elusive tape documenting their existence with fewer having ever even seen one in the wild. At long last, after 40+ years in obscurity, Beach Impediment is proud to present this long lost posthumous release of sorts, remastered from the original reel and accompanied by a 16 page booklet featuring extensive liner notes by surviving members Frank Gresham and Scott Price along with archival imagery related to the band and their brief but impactful existence in a sleepy southern town.

There are 100 copies on RED VINYL for mailorder while they last! These copies also include a risograph recreation of the poster that accompanied the original cassette tape.

Annnnd:

MURO - NUEVO DOGMA LP

The third 12" offering from Bogota, Colombia's MURO!!! Ten tracks of the blistering hardcore punk you know and love. Each record comes in a layout that was completely assembled by the band at Casa Rat Trap featuring stunning screen printed and hand made jackets, three posters and a booklet.

As always, you can buy here.

You can also buy / stream / download here.

PLEASE NOTE: MURO 12" is only available via the Big Cartel because it ain't my release nor is it streaming, dawg!

And, as always, your favorite distros / stores will have copies of these records before ya know it, so keep an eye out if you'd rather go that route.

Not much else to report! Dropped prices on a few older titles because I'm feeling pretty sassy. Beyond that, this is my last drop til about November or so. So, uh, STAY COOL!

5/21/24 - New releases from INVERTEBRATES, PEACE DECAY and VIDRO OUT NOW!!

HOWDY! SUP? Got three new ones ready to roll plus some represses, a recent warehouse find, distro additions of note and some tours you should be aware of! Let's get to it:

INVERTEBRATES - SICK TO SURVIVE 12"

A couple years back here in Richmond, VA, a group known as INVERTEBRATES emerged from the river sludge, dropping an absolutely scorching demo AND promo tape in conjunction with the pulverizing of many a gig audience fortunate enough to witness them. While the INVERTS have stayed the course on the latter, continuing to belt out the hits in the live setting the hardcore punk faithful have been hungry for more, and folks, am I excited to let ya know the wait is over! Featuring a handful of tunes from those aforementioned tapes that many have surely worn out by now, "SICK TO SURVIVE" is ten tracks of perfectly executed "45 RPM on a 12" style hardcore punk" - meaning that while it doesn't overstay it's welcome you will be left with a few sonic rage induced lumps as a reminder of the time spent together. Truly a slab for those who love the genre yet refuse to allot time for any of the extra bullshit that comes in tow with it at this particular point of the dystopian nightmare we find ourselves in. Each record comes in a jacket with a huge fold out newsprint poster and insert, all of which were designed by singer Max Mattoon.

There are 100 copies on WHITE VINYL for mailorder while they last.

There's also a RED VINYL / SCREEN PRINTED spineless (like an Invertebrate - get it?) jacket edition that the band will have at their record release gig here in Richmond on Saturday (ask a mod, maybe a teddy boy too) and for those who can't make it, our friends at Bunker Punks will also have a few of these available later today as well. Please be patient as they will have them when they have them BUUUT also if ya check out the BIR Big Cartel there miiiight be a few in there IDK!

PEACE DECAY - S/T LP

If you follow this label, you'll know that the love for Texas is evident. Serving as a follow up to the 2022 "DEATH IS ONLY..." 12" EP, the self-titled LP by these veterans of pummeling sonic racket features ten tracks of the hardcore punk madness that their first effort exhibited they were the stalwarts of. With this new release, PEACE DECAY have elevated their songwriting prowess and fierce delivery further than before. Mastered by Jack Control at Enormous Door, each record comes in a jacket with a full color insert, both of which are garnished with an absolutely stunning painting by vocalist Enok Cado.

There are 100 copies on LIGHT GREEN VINYL for mailorder while they last.

VIDRO - UPP TIL DANS EP

International hardcore punks VIDRO have blessed us with yet another slab. Upon returning home to Stockholm from a string of US dates, VIDRO returned to the studio so belt out yet another session of their raging yet eclectic take on the ever-mutating art form that is hardcore punk. Released earlier this year by the band across the pond, Beach Impediment is proud to yet again spread the works of this powerhouse of a group in the North American region. Each record comes in a stunning risograph sleeve designed by the band's own guitarist and designer Lucas Lima.

There are 100 copies on TRANSLUCENT YELLOW VINYL for mailorder while they last.

Available in Europe from Push My Buttons Records and Caco de Vidro.

As always, you can buy here and buy / stream / download here.

In addition to this, the following titles are now once again available thanks to much needed represses:

CANAL IRREAL - SOMEONE ELSE'S DANCE LP
SEXPILL - IN DUST WE TRUST 12"
PEACE DECAY - DEATH IS ONLY... 12"

Not only that, when doing some office cleaning I came across a couple dozen copies of the CONDOR - SINGLES 2017-2018 12" that I'd never assembled. Those are in the webstores while they last!

Not a ton to report distro wise but holy shit, get those DEEF reissues General Speech did if you haven't already! Also stocked back up on the LONG KNIFE back catalog represses that Keet did last year.

Oh and uh LOTS OF BANDS ARE ON TOUR! WAY MORE THAN USUAL! SOME ARE ALREADY UNDER WAY WHILE OTHERS HAVE YET TO EVEN START! See the attached posters for more info on said tours (no, I do not know venue info, etc.)

I might have just fucked the formatting of this dispatch by (shittily) posting these posters but ehhh.

That does it for now! See ya in July when MORE slabs are slated to drop, okay?

STAY COOL.

2/23/24 - New releases from PUBLIC ACID, CANAL IRREAL and SEXPILL OUT NOW!!

WAAAZZZAAAAAAAAp? They're here, they're finally here! Shit, man.

PUBLIC ACID - DEADLY STRUGGLE 12"

Amidst a seemingly endless onslaught of bands, labels, and other opportunistic clowns vying for commercial gain via subcultural cannibalism, it can be easy to lose sight of what drew us to punk in the first place. But despite the deluge of bullshit, we know that occasional nuggets of ugly and raw authenticity will claw their way to the surface for the hardcore punk faithful. And folks, we have just such a nugget in Deadly Struggle: 8 tracks of pummeling aural turbulence on a 12" slab for those who desire reality over cosplay. Building off the shockwaves of 2020’s Condemnation, Public Acid’s sound—a skewed, arty amalgamation of bludgeoning hardcore, frantic, riff- soaked d-beat, harsh noise, and underground metal—has only grown more focused and furious. There’s the virtuosic rhythm section, possessing an inhuman combination of lightness of touch and neanderthal power; the blinding, riffs-inside-of-riffs guitar style; the density of sound, massively heavy and pock-marked with kaleidoscopic fuzz; the maniacal vocals, inventive in both their technique and their rhythmic cadences; and, of course, the deadly mid-paced parts. Deadly Struggle reminds us that while hardcore punk will never die, those who cheapen it absolutely will.

Recorded by Sasha Stroud at Artifact Audio in NYC and mastered by Arthur Rizk for maximum impact, each record comes in a screen printed jacket with cover art by Thomas Sara immersed in a hypnotic layout by Matt Martin, plus a large fold out poster designed by Tower Kevin.

There are 250 copies on BLOOD RED vinyl for mailorder while they last.
EU / UK FOLKS! Static Shock (UK) and Sounds of Subterrania (Germany) will have an exclusive GREEN VINYL version of this record limited to 250 copies. As of writing this email they are still in transit, so please be patient and snag it from these fine folks when the time comes so you can save on shipping.

CANAL IRREAL - SOMEONE ELSE'S DANCE LP

"What you hold in your hands is not exactly for you. It is not a delight for your senses, nor sonic inspiration for transgressing your restraints. It is not your empowerment tool. It is manifestly theirs— a portal to their arena of power, powerlessness, joy, hate, anger, fear, and failure. None of it is yours. Still, can you plug in, tune in, lock in to their dial? Are you capable of not giving in to escape and instead absorbing it? Are you capable of asking for more? You want the channel? Here it goes: the channel is walk into the dark and dance. Bop and beg. Lean and laugh. Stare and stomp. Afterwards, go ahead and yell “I failed!” Ride along to the signal-notes that ring like sirens across the city warning you that an odorless noxious gas has just been released into the air. But don’t run. Instead, lean into the pulse. The channel is bop your head, bounce your ass, sing, wade, stomp, and scream.

Canal Irreal has rescinded and revoked your access to the splendid metropolis. The channel is fuck you. The channel is don’t ask them about Chicago, you don’t know it. The channel is don’t ask them about the fish; the Lake has consumed them all. Walk toward the darkness. Listen to the whispers and less to the wind. Lift your arms up to the melodic swings. Bounce your feet to the snap of the snare and flow of the bass. But don’t lose yourself—lock in. Are you capable of asking for more? Find the canal, or be clicked out by the clicker. Hold on to the wavelength or go back to normie-land. Canal Irreal is not hard or dark, it’s a portal to the personal, to desperation and exasperation. Go ahead and scream: “Doy todo y mucho mas.” This channel is not for your liberation. But do please tune in. What channel are you on now? Canal de mierda. Canal de chingado. Canal de sobrevivir. Canal Irreal. Bienvenidos." -Mike Amezcua

Each copy of "Someone Else's Dance" is housed in a stunning jacket along with an 8 page zine, both of which were designed by singer Martin Sorrondeguy.

There are 150 copies on TRANSLUCENT RED vinyl for mailorder while they last.

SEXPILL - IN DUST WE TRUST 12"

There's something to be said about the great state/nation/planet of Texas and it's ability to seemingly ooze vicious hardcore punk from the cracks of the land mass it claims. After a series of demos and storied live performances home and elsewhere over the course of nearly a decade, SEXPILL gives us "IN DUST WE TRUST" - the band's first venture onto the 12" format. Each slab harnesses twelve tracks of belligerent and noisy hardcore punk, capturing Houston's finest at their most maniacal to date, featuring brand new tracks flanked by some reimagined fan favorites from the earlier mentioned demo days. IN DUST WE TRUST. IN DUST WE MUST.

There are 150 copies on OPAQUE RED vinyl for mailorder while they last.

As always, you can buy here and buy / listen / download here.

It's also worth noting I came across a few hidden copies of the CONDOR 12" - will I get them up in the webstore by the time this email goes out? TIME WILL TELL!!!

Gonna keep it brief - hey FANX! Expect slabs come spring from the likes of INVERTEBRATES, PEACE DECAY, VIDRO, DISARM (VB) and more to come.

1/15/24 - HACKER - PSY WiFi EP OUT NOW!

GOOD MORNING AND HAPPY NEW YEAR! Excited to kick off another busy year with this Australian hardcore punk butt kicker of a slab. Read on for more info...

"Melbourne, Australia’s most feared hardcore cyber-vandal cell returns to wreak havoc on your network and your dance floors with the four-track “Psy Wi-Fi” EP. Following up the tightly-wound attack as heard on 2021’s “Pick A Path” 12”, Hacker have defragged the hardware and blown the dust out, striking again with more slightly more expansive songwriting. “Psy Wi-Fi” marks the welcome addition of a pinch more metal in the guitars and a fistful more pummel in the breakdowns to their established blueprint of direct, charging hardcore riffs, a rhythm section that is as agile as it is powerful, and one of the most expressive, capable and rabid vocalists in punk today. Update your firewall all you want, Hacker is coming. Expect them. (Neil Bramley)"

There are 100 copies on GREY VINYL for mailorder while they last and only about half of those are in the continental USA so get on that if ya like records that look like the NES.

As always, you can give err a spin / buy here and buy here.

AUSTRALIANS (or other folks that live in places where it's cheaper to get shit from Australia) - please order this title from Kyle at HELTA SKELTA RECORDS

It's also worth mentioning that I have a few copies of the debut 12" compliments of Yeap at Hardcore Victim Records! THANK YOU KING! Up in the Big Cartel for y'all that missed out when it dropped a few years back.

And in other distro news, got some copies of the latest QUARANTINE LP! WOW!

Ehhh besides that, just chilling, man. Hope the new year is treating y'all right! Next month we got three (3) LP's dropping so keep your eyes peeled for more on that. Be well!

10/3/23 - PRE-ORDERS for the GOLPE - ASSUEFAZIONE QUOTIDIANA EP and MONEY - S/T 12" UP NOW!

Howdy! I know, I know, I don't do pre-orders often but with the GOLPE US TOUR quickly approaching we wanted to get this rolling not only to further spread the word on those dates but also bestow some goddamn tunes on you all. And with the MONEY 12" being ready around the same time I decided to include it in this batch. Please note, these should be shipping around the end of the month, thanks in advance for your patience and understanding! And in case any of my wholsale folks are reading this, I will be emailing you all with your info once the records land. Now that we have that outta the way, let's get down to the nitty gritty...

GOLPE - ASSUEFAZIONE QUOTIDIANI EP

It's with a great sense of pride that we announce the arrival of new material from Italy's GOLPE. Serving as the highly anticipated follow up to 2021's La Colpa È Solo Tua on the Sorry State label, Tadzio Pederzolli (the mastermind behind this one man band) has once again gifted us with an ace hardcore punk recording, upping the fervor and delivery in a way that most couldn't imagine after the already furious debut LP which he also recorded on his own during the pandemic. The Assuefazione Quotidiana 7" EP features five absolute pounders of tracks, giving us more of the D-Beat based hardcore punk listeners came to love from the initial release with nods to Italian classics as the foundation of it all, topped off with politically and socially charged lyrics challenging modern norms and injustices. Truly a breath of fresh air sonically and philosophically. Each record comes with a stunning fold out poster, two inserts with the lyrics in Italian and one with an English translation, all topped off with a striking and straight-forward layout featuring the art and design from Tadzio's mind, executed with the help of co-conspirators.

There are 100 copies on RED VINYL for preorder while they last!

EUROPE - please obtain this ass kicker of a 7" from the mad lad Ellis over at Static Shock Records.

MONEY - S/T 12"

MONEY? MONEY. MONEY are the Texas blackened metal punks who dropped that FINAL BAG Demo and 3 A.M. ETERNAL EP on us in recent years. It can be hard to keep up with the deluge of mostly bullshit that comes up on a daily basis but MONEY stands alone. Their "members of" list is impressive but it’s unnecessary in light of the blistering 1-2 of licks and rapid fire drums. And while the aforementioned releases came into being via cassettes on the great Roach Leg Records and from the band themselves respectively, B.I.R. is proud to have these 7 corrosive tracks on vinyl for the first time.

Amphetamine fueled riffs for moral decline. MONEY. FFO: Darkthrone, Anti-Cimex, Sepultura, G-Zet. Remastered by Arthur Rizk, this collection of the initial efforts by MONEY is both for the well acquainted and those who might have missed the tapes when they dropped. Limited to 666 copies, half on COKE bottle clear and the other half on powder white vinyl. Each record comes in a jacket featuring art by Curse of Face and logo by Joe Chatt. Yee.

Scum stats listed above in the description.

And remember my mention of GOLPE's tour above? Here's the flyer! They'll be all around the east coast and midwest with the great ELECTRIC CHAIR. Not to be missed! The band will have plenty copies of the 7" to go around direct from them so if easier, please cop from the lovely Italians at one of their gigs!

I think that does it for now! As always, tons in the works but you'll see it when ya see it. Be well!

9/12/23 - 偏執症者 (Paranoid) - S.C.U.M. 12" EP OUT NOW!

Hey gang, me again! The slabs keep coming and I keep letting em loose, feel me? This time around the long-awaited US press of a Swedish mangel crusher. Read on if you dare!!!!

Here we have it, another chapter in the story of one of Sweden's greatest practitioners of modern raw hardcore punk -  偏執症者 (Paranoid)! The latest of the Northern Wind of Brutal Hell Mangel, this session was released earlier this year on the 7" format by Sweden's Not Enough Records but we are excited to give you all the 12" version of the absolutely obliterating S.C.U.M. EP! Recorded at the now legendary Studio Mangel in Frösön, Sweden with the mix and mastering being handled at LM Studio in Osaka, Japan by Ippei Suda and featuring additional vocals by Jacky and noise design by Statuszero recorded in Japan, this one sided slab packs 6 ear ringing blasts on the A-Side and features an absolutely stunning etched B-Side by Oik Wasfuk. Each record comes in a full color jacket adorned with a ghastly collage along with an obi strip, an insert and a stark poster measuring 18" x 24".

And for you, the mailorder fanatics, there is an exclusive deluxe version of this record. It comes on pink and black splattered vinyl, wrapped in a three color screen printed sleeve - a striking addition to an already all around stunning record. Limited to 100 copies for those that are into such things.

Also, if you happen to consider such a version too fancy, fret not - our friends at Sorry State will have an exclusive pink vinyl version that is also limited to 100 copies. Please note that it more than likely won't be up bright and early when I send this email, they might not be up til they open their store later in the day. Please don't punish those nice folks and just check back later.

Europe - as mentioned in the description, the great Not Enough Records in Sweden released these songs on 7" back in July. In the event shipping is a bit too daunting, my feelings won't be hurt if you just wanna cop that. Also, the band will have copies very soon, so stay tuned if that's a cheaper option.

All that said, you can order here and order / stream / download here.

On the distro front, I recently got copies of the two KINETIC ORBITAL STRIKE 7"s that seem to have sold out quickly from other outlets. Don't snooze, get em! Also got a couple more DELETAR 12"s floating around as well.

That'll do for now. You'll be hearing from me again in the coming weeks with some Italian hardcore punk and real deal Texas shit in tow. Til then, be well!

8/11/23 - Мир - MINDECISION 12" + GRAVEN IMAGE 12" repress out now!

WHAT IS UP? Very excited to let y'all know that I got a new one and a repress ready to roll - both of which are decades old hardcore punk from the Old Dominion state. Isn't that something else? Welp, let's go for it:

Мир - MINDECISION 12"

By now, it's not surprising that the dissemination of the hardcore punk movement in it's infancy seeped into the pores of nearly the entire planet. Of course, all the major cities worldwide developed burgeoning hardcore scenes that yielded the classics we know and love but there's something to be said about the less known spots on the map and their select inhabitants that were swept up in the fervor of it all, like some of those in the sleepy valley town of Roanoke tucked away in the tranquil Blue Ridge mountain region of Southwest Virginia. It was in that city, circa 1984, that four teenagers came together to form Мир or, for the non-Cyrillicaly inclined, simply MNP. The band name, pronounced "Mihr" per the  and which translates from Russian to peace, was also the group's mission statement and driving force in their brief existence. Having played a slew of gigs locally and elsewhere alongside contemporaries like CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, SCREAM, BATTALION OF SAINTS and DEATH PIGGY among others, they left as quickly as they came, disbanding in the summer of 1985 before most of the members left for college. Thankfully, the band entered the studio earlier that year before calling it a day. The tracks that made up the criminally underrated and sparsely circulated "MINDECISION" cassette are a crucial entry into the annals of early Virginia hardcore punk history, featuring twelve cuts of scorching USHC executed by small town high school kids. Remastered from the original reels by Chris Corry, each record comes in a jacket adorned with the original cover art by drummer Lawson Jaeger, featuring a 12" x 24" insert chock full of live photos, flyers and other ephemera plus liner notes by guitarist Spencer Edmunds.

There are 100 copies on WHITE VINYL for mailorder only while they last!

Also, the GRAVEN IMAGE - STUDIO SESSIONS: '82-'83 12" has been freshly repressed on coke bottle clear vinyl and is limited to 175 copies. If ya missed out the first time around, get one of these while ya can!

As always, you can snag here and stream / download / snag here.

In distro news, the crown jewel of this update has to be the AMAZING new LP by France's DELETAR on the great Kick Rock Records. It's selling out from stateside distros left and right, get ya one if ya haven't already.

In addition to that, there's a very diverse smattering of fan club slabs in the store, only one of which is remotely punk related. Take a look... OHHHH YEAYYYUH!

Anyhow, keeping this one short and sweet. MUCH MORE TO COME BEFORE THE YEAR IS OUT like new slabs from PARANOID, PUBLIC ACID, HACKER and some others I can't announce yet. Expect pre-order info for a couple very soon...

STAY COOOL,
-B.I.R.

12/27/22 - New releases from VIDRO and INDRE KRIG OUT NOW!!

Howdy and happy HOLLA DAZE in the event you even celebrate such things. Only a few days left in the year so I figured we'd unleash the North American pressings of two of my favorite SCANDI SLAMMERS that came out this year before 2023 rears it's inevitably ugly head. So let's go, shall we?

VIDRO - GLÖD 12"

And here we have it, the North American pressing of VIDRO's brilliant 2nd 12" titled "GLÖD." Featuring an amalgamation of members that span the globe from Brazil to the USA to their sonic and geographical home of Stockholm, Sweden, VIDRO have been churning out quality hardcore punk in recorded and live settings for five years now with no apparent signs of letting up anytime soon. Previously released on Germany's Kink Records near the outset of 2022, this North American pressing serves both as a means to alert the uninitiated of what they've been missing along with providing a taste of what is to come. Each record comes in a jacket with a large poster, featuring design work and art by VIDRO guitarist Lucas Lima.

There are 100 copies on RED VINYL for mailorder while they last.

European friends! Please order this record from KINK RECORDS in Germany as they are handling the pressing of this one on your land mass.

INDRE KRIG - DESTROYER EP

Released earlier in the year on the magnificent Adult Crash Records out of Copenhagen, Denmark, Beach Impediment is pleased to handle the North American pressing of an absolute, bonafide international hardcore punk ripper... the "DESTROYER" EP from INDRE KRIG! Six tracks of razor sharp musicianship with truly memorable hooks and riffs to match it, this platter keeps up the reputation K-Town has garnered for generating quality punk music over the course of multiple decades now. Each record comes in a pocket sleeve embellished with particularly striking art by the living legend we call Nicky Rat.

There are 100 copies on RED VINYL for mailorder while they last.

European friends! Please order this record from ADULT CRASH in Denmark as they are handling the pressing of this one on your land mass.

Will these stellar bands be coming over to North America in 2023?! Stay tuned to find out :)

Got a slight smattering of distro items too. It's no surprise I'm a distro coward this day and age due to so many that do it so much better and a general lack of spare time, but shit, man, every now and then I gotta snag some stuff. Like the reissue of Public Acid's debut 12" release "EASY WEAPONS" on the stellar LVEUM label. I would say to be sure to snag a copy of the CONDEMNATION EP with it if ya hadn't already buuuut that one is officially out of print as of the other day when I mailed the last copy off to our country's heartland. But hey, expect something new from these lovely folks in 2023.

In addition to this, the geniuses at Black Water have given the first couple LP's from PDX kings LONG KNIFE the reissue treatment as well! The long awaited repress of the "CURB STOMP EARTH" LP still ain't here (fingers crossed for sometime on January) but if you slept on these I highly recommend snagging them in the meantime. Yes.

Check the store for some other random and not so random slabs - some fan club funnies, some marked down stuff, yadda yadda. Might even put my dog on there.

**Oh and JUST A HEADS UP - I will not be shipping anything until the first week of the new year. Thanks for your understanding and patience!**

And with that, I wanna thank y'all for another great year. The pitfalls and annoyances that come with releasing records this late into the 21st century are plentiful so the bands that trust me with their art and the wonderful folks that enjoy the releases more than make up for all that bullshit. Additional shout outs to the stores and distros that keep it going with their tireless work, the folks behind the scenes recording, mixing, mastering, transferring long forgotten reels, etc for these releases and my lovely pressing plant right here in Virginia that makes shit happen for me. Thanks and see you again in about a month or so for a very special pre-order... cheers!

11/25/22 - New Releases: THE CHISEL / MESS Split 7" & GRAVEN IMAGE - STUDIO SESSIONS: '82-'83 12" OUT NOW!!

HEY! Got a couple new ones I'm dropping on y'all the week of the beginning of the obnoxious holiday vortex that'll unfold for the next 6 weeks or so. As abysmal as that might be, these records are both butt kickers despite being 4 decades apart in their creation. With that said, let's get on with it:

GRAVEN IMAGE - STUDIO SESSIONS: '82-'83 12"

In the summer of 1982, an already burgeoning scene in Richmond, VA saw the arrival of some new blood in the form of GRAVEN IMAGE. Taking both inspiration and influence from the hardcore punk explosion that was well underway all over the world, these youngsters who met at a local skate ramp channeled their aggression through the no bullshit hardcore punk that they churned out in their few years of existence. Having shared the stage with a veritable who's who of punk at the time (BAD BRAINS, MINOR THREAT, NECROS, C.O.C., VOID, THE FU's, etc) throughout the Mid-Atlantic, the band's explosive live performance fronted by the powerful and charismatic Dwayne Curd was evidence that they could hold their own when billed with the aforementioned titans of the genre. "THE STUDIO SESSIONS: '82-'83" features the entirety of GI's recorded studio output - first from the "YOUR SKULL IS MY BOWL" session circa fall of 1982 that became the extremely rare and sought after split tape with fellow local juvenile upstarts HONOR ROLE, and lastly from the "KICKED OUT OF THE SCENE" EP session that was recorded in 1983 and released the following year, plus some previously unreleased tracks from each of the studio outings that yielded these 22 tracks of USHC fury! Carefully transferred and restored from the original reels, each record comes with a 12 page booklet chock full of photos, flyers and even some liner notes from guitarist Nick Smilek and drummer Joey Boisineau. For admirers of early American Hardcore and not much else.

There are 100 copies on MAROON VINYL available for mailorder while they last.

EUROPE! Please purchase this one from Mendeku Diskak as they are handling the European pressing of this slab.

THE CHISEL / MESS Split 7"

Bloody fucking hell! Two of modern Oi's finest together on a slab, you say?! You bet your ass! THE CHISEL (London, England) and MESS (Guadalajara, Mexico) have teamed up to deliver quite the sonic melee of a split 7" featuring two new ones from each group that showcase the balance of proficient songwriting and brute force that both bands have gained a well deserved reputation for over the past couple years. And as the The Chisel Boys' reiterative chorus resounds through the speakers while you're spinning this platter, you'll know that it's true - you truly ain't seen nothing yet as this is but a taste of what's to come from both of these stalwarts of the genre. Featuring art and layout by the great Nicky Rat, this record is a one time pressing so snag it while ya can or don't! COME ON NOW!!!

There are 300 copies on WHITE VINYL available for mailorder while they last.

As always, both releases can be purchased here and streamed / downloaded / purchased here.

There ain't much else to report at the moment! FINGERS CROSSED we will have the INDRE KRIG 7" and VIDRO 12" ready to roll next month alongside the highly anticipated repress of the LONG KNIFE - CURB STOMP EARTH LP. Stay tuned...

Peace!

9/13/22 - LONG KNIFE - CURB STOMP EARTH LP OUT NOW!!

Greetings! I'm excited to deliver the news that the long awaited 3rd LP from PDX hardcore punks LONG KNIFE is finally available to the masses! If you were lucky enough to snag a record release copy at their hometown gig with RIXE last month or stumbled across the recording on the band's very own Bandcamp page then you're well aware of wallop packed in this platter. Let's get right down to it:

LONG KNIFE - CURB STOMP EARTH LP

"The third chapter in the decade long existence of one of the most depraved Portland hardcore bands ever. If you know, you know, as LONG KNIFE has channeled and perfected the POISON IDEA sound, though if you pay attention to their catalog, you can see how they have evolved into their own beast over the years, making the PI comparisons trite. Every song on this record offers something different, whether it’s keyboards, horns (yep), what sounds to be operatic gang vocals, or just straight up hardcore bangers. This LP still maintains the intensity, insanity, and aggression these maniacs are known for, though there seems to be a bit more melody thrown in under the chaos this time. The riffs, solos, bass licks and Colin’s vocals/lyrics are just as awesome as ever. And of course, the lyrics are just as cynical, disturbing, and well written as we’ve come to expect. There is no slowing down for these guys and the Earth is ready to be curb stomped again and again with LONG KNIFE’s fucked up pummeling songs for these fucked up times. Each record comes in a deluxe package - thick jacket, printed inner sleeve and a huge poster plus stunning cover art by Alina Radetsky."

There are 100 copies on TURQOUISE VINYL with special screened sleeves available for mailorder while they last. You can purchase it here and purchase / stream / download it here.

It's also worth mentioning that this is a split release with BLACKWATER RECORDS who has their own variant of the record for all of you completists out there. Holler at Keet if orange is a far more palatable color for ya! Word on the street is he might even have a few more of the record release version kicking around on his site as well...

Loads of distro updates! Here's a little glimpse of what we're working with:

TOTALITAR - 1998-2002 12"
OUTPATIENTS - READMITTED LP
SYNDROME 81 - PRISONS LP
RIGOROUS INSTITUTION - CAINSMARSH LP
SAMHAIN - THE HORROR OF LODI 12"
HORRENDOUS 3D - S/T EP

+ E V E N M O R E ! ! ! Take a deep dive via the Big Cartel link above.

That does it for now on the new release front! Up next, before the year is out I am hoping to have these two out that are currently in production:

GRAVEN IMAGE - STUDIO SESSIONS: '82-'83 12"
THE CHISEL / MESS - Split 7" (US press)

Stay tuned for an exact release date as these items come into existence! Hopefully that'll be soon, pressing plants willing...

After that (and hopefully before 2022 is out, we shall see), expect domestic pressings of two recently released Scandinavian rippers - Sweden's VIDRO - GLOD 12" and Denmark's INDRE KRIG - DESTROYER EP. More on that as it develops along with more archival releases (some I've already announced and some I haven't), more modern releases, etc etc etc.

As always, thanks for your time and I hope all is well for you and yours. Enjoy the tunes and take care!

7/22/22 - PHANTASIA - GHOST STORIES 12" OUT NOW!

Howdy gang! We got a new one on deck - the debut 12" from NYC's Phantasia, available NOW for order! More on all that below. We were hoping to have some more slabs ready for ya but there are various projects in various stages of limbo that I will not bore ya with. With that said, expect some more before the year is out, yeah? On to the matter at hand!

PHANTASIA - GHOST STORIES 12"

Pastels by candlelight, a spilled bottle, cigarettes burnt to the filter, the outline of a face being tanned by a flickering neon light, the vinyl debut from NYC's Phantasia is hard to get out of your head. A polytropos of black lace tinged beachfront kitsch melted together with the clever gloom of prime-era American indie, all topped by the wavering and haunting vocals of what could be likened to a baritone Siouxie Sioux. Elements of death rock, pure pop, punk, and rock and roll are all here fighting for space amongst lilting synths, reverb-soaked guitars, and muscular drumming. Recorded and mixed by Sasha Stroud, this captures both the spirit of their influences — the Feelies, Alaska y Dinarama, Bruce Springsteen, and Pylon — but holds nothing back in terms of what these songs are capable of sounding like in the 21st century. Each record comes in a jacket adorned with art by Phantasia's own Dylan Cameron.

Words by Jonah "Birdass" Falco.

There are 100 copies on PURPLE VINYL for mailorder only available here and here while they last.

UK FRIENDS - the living legends at STATIC SHOCK have multiple copies of this record including a good grip of them on purple vinyl, go snag since that postage cost will be way less barbaric than the one coming from me!

EURO FRIENDS - In other across the pond news, the fine folks at Germany's SOUNDS OF SUBTERRANEA also have copies for those not looking to break the bank. More to come on this front!

Loads and loads of distros, stores and other record selling entities have copies en route as we speak, so keep an eye or two peeled for that.

Despite my vows to stop doing a distro there's a little bit of activity here and there as of late... we got the long awaited Gentleman Jesse single from Third Man Records that serves as a companion piece to the "Lose Everything" LP that B.I.R. released back in November of last year, the first slab from legendary local label Zero Degree records in nearly 40 years - the L'AMOUR / BEEX split 12", some vintage French Oi via the D.E.M. Demo 7", some classic Midwestern American hardcore punk in the form of the Violent Apathy 7" from Radio Raheem and No Idols, some varied fan clubbery and whenever the USPS allows it I will have some hot slabs from PDX's finest Black Water, so check back in at a later date should ya need some Syndrome 81, Rigorous Institution, or any of that.

In the coming months, if the various set backs holding stuff back at the moment subside we'll FINALLY let loose some hits like the LONG KNIFE - CURB STOMP EARTH LP (a split release with the aforementioned Black Water), the GRAVEN IMAGE - STUDIO SESSIONS '82-'83 12", the US press of THE CHISEL / MESS Split 7" and hopefully the RED CROSS - NO MESSAGE 12". There might be a few others as well but your guess is as good as mine the way shit is these days!

Stay tuned! Please be well in the meantime.

3/15/22 - New releases from MERCENARY and PEACE DECAY OUT NOW!!

Yo, I hope y'all have been well! Here's the first offerings from the Beach Impediment Label for the year 2022. Let's do it:

MERCENARY - DEMOS COLLECTION 12"

While this is titled “Demos Collection,” it’s actually a discography–the collected works of one of the most ferocious hardcore groups to come out of the Southeast in the last decade. Mercenary’s noisy, heavy riffing blends Scandinavian and Japanese influences, and the drums blaze a frantic d-beat. It’s the vocals, though, that propel their recordings into the stratosphere. Vocalist Michael “Ruby” Rubenstein was at his most unchained in Mercenary, and his performance here has been likened to a “Neanderthal’s battle cry.” While modern science has concluded that Neanderthals were complex primates capable of art and symbolic thought, they were probably terrifying to face in a struggle for survival. While they had some enticing opportunities, the band never committed anything to vinyl save a comp track. They broke up in 2015, leaving behind two tapes and achieving legendary status for their pummeling live performances in Atlanta.

In 2021, Ruby passed away unexpectedly, a devastating loss for friends, punks, and music dorks around the world. This album is not only a brutal slab of tuneage, it’s also an important artifact representing Ruby’s life and his love of music. The tracks on this LP have been remixed and remastered to better capture the band’s intensity, and the album comes with a foldout insert and a photo of Ruby in action along with stark cover art by Joe Della. If Mercenary flew under your radar the first time, you missed out. Snag this once and future bonzer now. Proceeds from the sales of this record will go to a mural in memory of Ruby as well as the Atlanta Harm Reduction Coalition. Limited to a one time pressing of 500 copies.

100 copies on SEA GLASS VINYL for mailorder while they last!

PEACE DECAY - DEATH IS ONLY... 12"

Here we have it, the debut release from the Austin, TX hardcore punk powerhouse known as PEACE DECAY. "Death is Only..." features six tracks of the blazing and pummeling hardcore ferocity you'd expect from a group consisting of current and former members of VAASKA, SEVERED HEAD OF STATE, GUERRA FINAL and many more acts the great nation of Texas has bequeathed to us, the hardcore faithful, over the past few decades or so. Mastered by Jack Control at Enormous Door, each record comes in a full color matte jacket adorned with cover art by vocalist Enok Vazquez and also features a stunning 11" x 17" collage by Barcelona visual artist and analog collagist JFKollages. Much like death, this initial offering from PEACE DECAY is only the beginning.

100 copies on OPAQUE BLUE VINYL for mailorder while they last!

It's also worth mentioning that the 3rd press of the BEEX - THE EARLY YEARS: 1979-1982 12" has finally arrived as well! 250 copies on a SMOKY VINYL, snag em while ya can! And while we still eagerly await the arrival of the 2nd press of the SOCIO LA DIFEKTA - KRESKI EP (hopefully only a couple more months at most), I came across a few straggler copies with slightly damaged covers that I've put up at a reduced rate for those who don't care about things like imperfect print material, corners dinged in transit, etc etc.

As always, you can obtain copies of these records via the Beach Impediment Records Big Cartel aka OL' FAITHFUL.

You can stream / download these records AND purchase them via the Beach Impediment Records Bandcamp.

Be on the lookout for new slabs from LONG KNIFE, GRAVEN IMAGE, PHANTASIA, RED CROSS, WHITE CROSS and many more through out the year that have yet to be announced but will be soon enough, like an absolute shit kicker of a split that I just sent off to be cut the other day. Stay tuned!!!

Record bullshit aside, please continue to stay safe and navigate this strange new world the best you can. It's pretty much two years to the week since this shit all went down and what a stretch of time it's been. It's nice seeing shreds of normalcy return and we can only hope for some permanence to that. Time will tell.

Be well, stay safe, keep rocking,
-B.I.R.

11/19/21 - GENTLEMAN JESSE - LOSE EVERYTHING LP + SOCIO LA DIFEKTA - KRESKI EP OUT NOW!!

Happy days, my friends! Here we have it - the final entries into the Beach Impediment catalog for the year 2021. A mixed bag if I do say so myself! It was an interesting year to press records, that's for sure, and I'm thrilled to see it out with these two! Proceed for more information on these titles + some other news.

GENTLEMAN JESSE - LOSE EVERYTHING LP

After ten long years away from the studio, Gentleman Jesse returns to us bearing a new ten-track album that benefits greatly from the wisdom and heartbreak that a decade of life on this planet affords. An album titled "Lose Everything" is bound to have its dark side, and behind the powerful melodies and jangly guitars a hint of sadness hangs in the air. But Jesse makes a bad time a good listen—after all, he's responsible for tunes like Carbonas' "Phone Booth" and his debut single "I Don't Wanna Know." While age tends to water down the output of older musicians, it's had the opposite effect on Jesse. Gone is any semblance of kitsch or power-pop convention. Also gone are his band—he's flying solo this time. What remains is a dazzling, mature earworm of a guitar-pop album. Each record comes in a matte jacket adorned with the photography of Riley McBride and also includes a lovingly assembled booklet featuring lyrics and original woodcut prints made by the Gentleman himself.

There are 200 copies on JADE VINYL available for mailorder while they last.

SOCIO LA DIFEKTA - KRESKI EP

Tokyo, Japan's SOCIO LA DIFEKTA have bestowed upon the international punk community a barn burner of a slab in the form of this, the "KRESKI" EP. Featuring members of regional greats like UNARM and MALIMPLIKI among others, this smashing debut contains 6 tracks of rabid yet precise hardcore punk topped off by the dual vocals of Nanae and Iŝimura catapulting their fierce howls in the Esperanto language. Recorded by Shigenori Kobayashi at Tokyo's legendary Noise Room, each record comes in a stunning DIY print sleeve along with a fold out insert chock full of the lyrics and their translations into Japanese and English; all of which was designed and laid out by bassist and renowned visual artist Ippei Matsui.

There are 100 copies on BROWN VINYL available for mailorder while they last.

You can purchase copies here.

You can stream the records in their entirety and purchase copies here.

The following titles have been repressed since we last spoke as well:

PUBLIC ACID - CONDEMNATION EP
CONDOR - SINGLES 2017-2018 12" (500 copies on WHITE VINYL)
BEEX - THE EARLY YEARS: 1979-1982 12" (250 copies on YELLOW VINYL)

We're hoping to have the 3rd press of the MUJERES PODRIDAS 12" in the coming weeks, stay tuned!

On a more personal note, as an update to those who were following the situation since I posted the GoFundMe back in March of this year, Mikey Rodriguez of WHITE CROSS, RED CROSS, MOD SUBS and many other bands over the years lost his fight with liver cancer earlier this month. I had the distinct pleasure and honor of getting to know him while working on the White Cross and Red Cross projects over the past year and a half. He was a friend and will be missed dearly. In honor of his passing his family has started the Michael Rodriguez Memorial Fund to collect charitable donations for the children he left behind. In the event you feel led to do so, donations can be sent via PayPal or Venmo to @kimrod10 or snail mail to:

Thanks again to all who donated to help with his medical bills earlier this year, I can vouch for the fact that he was truly touched by such kindness coming from so many strangers. Here's to hoping we finally get those aforementioned releases out in 2022.

Next month marks 10 years of Beach Impediment Records. Huge thanks for all the support over that decade. There's still more to come! Here's a glimpse at what's next! If all goes according to plan, those top few titles should be kicking off 2022...

MERCENARY - DEMOS COLLECTION 12"
PEACE DECAY - DEATH IS ONLY... 12"
GRAVEN IMAGE - DISCOGRAPHY 12"
LONG KNIFE - CURBSTOMP EARTH 12" (split release with Blackwater Records)
RED CROSS - NO MESSAGE: 1981-1982
WHITE CROSS - DISCOGRAPHY

+ loads more to be announced in the new year.

Take care,
-B.I.R.
